    Exceptional

A lovely little hotel! The staff are really helpful and the interior decor has been well thought out. All the decorative pieces come from China and "Chinese" is the theme. I stayed here for two nights and was so happy with it that I cancelled my booking with the Sabah Hotel (touristy and anonymous) and reserved a room at the Nak for when I returned from the Kinabatangan river.... It's a great deal for the money. On my first stay I had a suite so even had a roll top bathtub - not bad for a lower budget hotel!!! The Billin bar/restaurant on the top floor is lovely - more like something you'd expect on the Mediteranean! Really "lounge-like". Great views too, because it's on the roof.

Nothing, except that they din't have a computer for me to access internet (I think they have wi-fi though), but that is quite normal in this part of the world. You can also hear traffic noise from the street, so maybe not for really light sleepers but, from an inner wooden frame round the windows, my guess is they may be putting in double glazing soon to counteract this.

    Very good

The hotel is basic, but with an awesome roof terrasse and a wonderful view on Sandankan's harbour. Good price performance ratio. Nice breakfast.

Very thin windows and therefore a little bit noisy during the night (noise of cars, etc)

    Fabulous

Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Nice rooftop bar/cafe. Great to have a large family room.

    Shame there's no pool!

    Good

Suitable for travellers to one of the nature tours in the area as a transit place for a night or two. You get all the basics. Value for money.

Very noisy hotel. It sits on a major junction and right across the street is the bus station. Too much noice. Double glazed windows should help reduce the noice inside the rooms. Also the furniture is a bit old.

The roof-top cafe. Great spot to see all of Sandakan. Very- friendly staff

An extremely grim room. Very noisy as quite close to the main street with motor cycles roaming around till 4 am. Had to change our booking from 4 nights to just one.

    Fabulous

Nak Hotel is a three star hotel. However, it has recently been renovated and so the rooms are clean and comfortable. It is located in a good central position and has a gorgeous casual roof top bar/restaurant on top.

It is a descent, clean hotel. Absolutely worth the money.

The doors locks could be improved.

    Fabulous

Loved the sea view rooms & Balin rooftop bar & bistro. Lovely environment, having my breakfast facing the sea... with nice music as the background.

The breakfast menu could be more extensive. Guests should be allowed a bit more liberty to extend their check out, especially when the hotel is not fully booked and guests checked in only at 12am...

Nice bar on the roof, confortable beds, good price.

    Superb

Design of this hotel is mixed of modern and Chinese traditional elements. Those furniture/ decoration which look like antique are stylish. And the rooftop bar/ restuarant is an additional treasure moment beside of comfort living room.

    Fabulous

The hotel looks in old fashion in new renovation. it is very comfortable and nice to stay.

the breakfast open at 7:30 is to late for the early customers who leave earlier, like me to fly at 8am and didn't take the breakfast.

Location is very central, the bus station, information centre and sea front are within walking distance away (~10mims). Managed to walk to Agnes Keith house in about 20 mins and well worth a visit! Staff at reception speak English, friendly and helpful. The top floor and the outside bar overlooked the city, amazing view at night.

The draignage system was smelly the first time we put the shower on, fine after a day. Our drinks took a long time to arrive on the first night. we waited for a total of over an hour for 2 beers and a juice to arrive on the first night, the staff who brought the beer to us blamed the staff who took our order, even though it still took him about 25 minutes to bring the second beer and then another 20mins for a juice. On the 3rd morning of our stay, we were getting the 9am bus to Sepilok so we went for an early breakfast but four of us had to wait for about 40 minutes before the food arrived and the other two people in our group had to go without as it was getting too late. The turkey sausages we got were cold in the middle, so did the toasts. The 'reason' we were given was that the other chef was on annual leave(not on sick leave). The bar staff did apologise, however, when we mentioned it again to the reception staff, there was no mention of any compensation even thought it was a planned leave. I did think it could have been handled more professionally by any of the staff rather than looking embarrased when apologising to us.
